Information for Site Managers
Operational scope and safety logic of the RapidRAMS system.
What RapidRAMS Is
RapidRAMS is a digital system used by contractors to generate task-specific Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS) for routine construction, maintenance, and facilities management works.
The system applies structured UK health and safety logic based on published HSE guidance and commonly accepted site control measures. It produces RAMS using explicit information provided by the contractor about the task, tools, materials, access methods, and working conditions.
RapidRAMS does not assess sites, replace supervision, or exercise professional judgement beyond the declared information.
What RapidRAMS Is Designed For
RapidRAMS is intended for non-specialist works where risks can be identified and controlled using standard methods. Common suitable activities include:
- General maintenance and repair works
- Painting and decorating
- Installation of fixtures and fittings
- Drilling and minor construction activities
- Low-risk electrical works where systems are isolated
- Access using ladders, PASMA mobile towers, or MEWPs
- Routine use of hand tools, power tools, and common materials
It is commonly used on sites such as schools, offices, retail premises, residential blocks, and light industrial environments.
How Safety Logic Is Applied
The system utilizes a rule-based logic engine to ensure consistency:
- Hazards are included only when explicitly declared by the contractor.
- Controls are matched directly to declared hazards and access methods.
- PPE requirements are derived from identified risks, not added generically.
- Language avoids outcome-based claims (“we ensure safety”) and focuses on control measures only (“barriers will be erected”).
Each document includes a unique reference and date of generation for audit purposes. This approach is designed to produce clear, proportionate, and auditable RAMS that reflect the actual task.
Why Some Jobs Are Declined
RapidRAMS includes deliberate refusal logic. If a task involves specialist or high-risk activities that require bespoke planning, permits, or engineering judgement, the system will decline to generate RAMS.
Examples of work strictly not supported include:
- Asbestos-related activities
- Structural demolition
- Scaffolding erection or dismantling
- Confined space entry
- Live electrical or gas work
- Crane operations or complex lifting plans
This refusal mechanism is intentional and acts as a safety control, not a limitation.
Contractor Responsibility
RAMS generated using RapidRAMS are based entirely on information submitted by the contractor. The contractor remains responsible for:
- Accuracy of information provided
- Competence and training of operatives
- Compliance with site rules, permits, and inductions
- Supervision of work and monitoring of site conditions
RapidRAMS does not certify that work is safe or acceptable for a particular site and does not replace site management controls.
Summary for Site Management
RapidRAMS is a controlled documentation system for routine works; not a substitute for competence, supervision, or specialist safety planning.
Where a task is suitable for a structured RAMS, the system provides clear, consistent documentation. Where it is not, the system declines to proceed.
